The 2010 Janssen’s Transport Service sponsored Bunny Burrowes Memorial for Formula 500’s to be held at the Narrogin Speedway on Saturday 1st May has attracted a record 32 nominations.
The 28th running of this prestigious event, which comes with a record prize pool of $ 6000 ($ 5000 cash), includes an “A” list of quality drivers including 2009 BBM Champion & two time State Champion Steven Ellement. Ellement has been in fine form all year winning his second consecutive State Title and securing the Motorplex Points Championship just last week. He qualified fourth at the recent Australian Championship. Recently crowned Australia 1 in Daniel Harding will be doing his best to add his name to the list of previous winners including that of his father (Trevor) who won in 2002 at Bibra Lake. Daniel has been in lightening form of late and along with his brother, Trevor (Jnr), has shown great speed in recent events and both will be a real danger. Trevor (Jnr) qualified in 6th position at the Australian Title.

With the summer racing season heading to an end, all interest on the Formula 500 front turn to the running of the 6th and final round in this seasons West Coast Series. Following on from what has been an interesting and highly competitive series thus far, there is no doubt that round 6 will be as hard fought as the previous 5 rounds.
Heading the nomination list for the final round in this season’s tournament is current point’s leader and WA Champion, Steven Ellement. Having returned from his assault on the 2010 Australian Championship at Alice Springs last weekend, the Ellement team have been burning the “midnight oil” to turn the car around in readiness for Saturday’s meeting, having only picked up the car on Wednesday evening.
Included in the nomination list for this weekend is newly crowned Australian Champion Daniel Harding. With the feeling of victory still very fresh in his mind, rest assured Harding will pull out all stops in an effort to take the win, emulating his older sibling’s effort in round 4 of the West Coast Series. Trevor Harding Jr is also nominated to take part, and is keen to add another series round win to his tally.

Jeff Hedington has turned his form around by winning the Geraldton leg of the WA F500’s Inc West Coast Series in front of an impressive crowd.
With a depleted field due to a lot of drivers having NT and Australian Title commitments in coming weeks the racing was fierce and all heats and especially the final were action packed. The track had developed some interesting grooves which also helped keep drivers on their toes throughout.
Steven Ellement grabbed the lead in heat one after Jeff Hedington had built a commanding lead only to succumb to engine gremlins late race and settled for second. Several cars endured some massive moments hitting ruts and bouncing all over the track. None better than Ellement who was lucky not to roll after being 90 degrees to the track with all four wheels well and truly off the ground at one stage. The second heat also was taken out by Ellement who was pushing the HRC to limit at times with Hedington still amongst the leaders and Matt Watkins, Grant Perry and Jon Taylor all fighting for the minor placings. The third heat was taken out by “The Bilford Bullet” Brett Janssen, making a comeback in the ex WA90 Shane Andersson race car. Jeff Hedington pushed Janssen to line with the pair finishing side by side at the chequers.
